Don’t Judge Me, But..

Don’t Judge Me, But..

Have you ever played “Don’t judge me, but..”? It’s sort of like “never have I ever..” except these are things you HAVE done. I like ”Don’t judge me, but..”  better because I’m horrible at thinking of things I’ve never done. We played last weekend at the bachelorette party and let me tell you, things start to get real weird once people start drinking. There are no more secrets. Try it sometime. Most of the time when people ask what I’m eating or if I’ve come up...

This Must Be What Heaven Is Like..

I spent the weekend in NYC for a bachelorette party. We stayed at the most amazing hotel and had a 3 room suite with a ginormous balcony and a Jacuzzi. A jacuzzi! On the balcony! But better than a rooftop Jacuzzi is the buttloads of amazing food we had. We went to dinner at Spice Market where I got to test my tolerance for spicy food, which  anyone that knows me knows is sub zero. I usually can’t even look at black pepper without tearing up and whining. Do you know how frustrating it is for a foodie to have to live without eating and...

Boom! Pow! Right In The Kisser!

Boom! Pow! Right In The Kisser!

Well, not the kisser.. but the forehead. Good look for me? Remember how I promised you a recipe yesterday and then clearly didn’t deliver? Bad Gaby! Sorry, guys. This is how I spent some of my Saturday afternoon after a self-inflicted closed head injury at the gym. With nothing more than a 8oz metal training bar, I managed to hit myself so hard in the head that I created an insta-bruise and bump. All in the name of teaching someone to Snatch. Or, as someone later pointed out, exactly how not to snatch.  I mean, it’s cool, I...

Let’s Talk About Reps, Baby..

OH THANK GOD! I’m back! I’ve been having trouble with my blog hosting site, so I haven’t been able to post in a while… fear no more, lovelies . I’m back! I’ll admit, the one thing I dislike about coaching CrossFit is it means a lot more working out solo. I work out with the class as often as I can, but most of the time if I’m in the gym during class I am coaching it. This means I have to work really hard on my self-motivation and learn to push myself as if I were working out in a large group. I...

Rise and Dine

So my first CrossFit Open experience has come to an end. All things considered, I’m really happy I decided to participate and I had a great experience. Here’s 4 minutes of fun for your viewing pleasure. Doing the Open helped push me out of my comfort zones and helped me discover I was able to do things I was previously convinced my injury prevented.  That is just a messy sentence… but you get it. What I loved most about the Open was what it did for everyone in my gym. It inspired a deeper sense of family and community that...

Well, That Sucked

Well, That Sucked

So, do you remember how I was able to clean just in time to do 13.4? And that I got 52 reps and was pretty proud of myself? You do? Good. Because none of it counts. Who has 2 thumbs and forgot to log her score for 13.4? This girl! Oops. At first I was pretty upset with myself. Especially because I realized 15 minutes after the fact that it was just barely too late to record a score. And then I realized it doesn’t really matter. Let’s face it, I wasn’t in the running for Regionals or the Games anyway. I am doing the Open to...

Haters Gon Hate

I’m not sure you’re ready for all the goodness that will be in this post. Buckle up your seat belts. First things first. 12 minutes of nothin but wallballs comin at ya here. It’s no fun to watch. Promise. Don’t be sorry. NEXT, and more importantly, remember that time I broke my hand during a dirty clean?! If not, it must be your first time here, it’s all I talk about. Well, since then, I haven’t cleaned more than 45# out sheer fear and a little bit of pain.  Wednesdays WOD at the Box was: And you know...

Holy Wall Balls

Holy Wall Balls

13.3 kicked my sorry butt. And now that it’s Wednesday, this sorry butt is finally not sore anymore. I didn’t enjoy one second of those 12 minutes, to be honest. I haven’t attempted wall balls since I hurt my wrist, so I was pleased I was at least able to do them. Result- 143. Boo. As much as I hated it, I am looking forward to going after it again. I can’t let it kick my ass and not try to redeem myself. As usual, the video will be up tomorrow! After I dusted myself from the WOD, I headed into the city for some...

Leave Me Alone, I’m Carb-loading

I love the CrossFit Open. It’s officially become my favorite season.  Not the”holiday”season, or any weather season, or football season. No. Screw them. I’m all about the Open. I look forward to the weekend way more than I ever have. Just so I can be at the gym cheering on my fellow teammates and beating my own body to a pulp. Freakshow. I have recently become obsessed, and I use that term loosely, because by obsessed I mean I’ve made them twice, with green smoothies. Since starting the Whole Life Challenge and...

Paleo St. Paddy’s Day

Paleo St. Paddy’s Day

Before we get down to business, I’d like to introduce you to my butt crack my first attempt at 13.2. Now that that’s out of the way…. What does someone who is Paleo do on St. Paddy’s Day? Aside from hating everyone who is out drinking and feasting on green bagels and cookies while I work? They find every green, Paleo compliant food and eat it like it was the best damn thing they ever tasted! Salad, green tea, green apples, green beans, and avocado were on the menu for me yesterday.. all while staring down free pizza,...
